She reaches towards her father, nearly unconsciously -- and then stops the gesture, pulling both arms in close to her chest, eyes closing on a shaking breath as her face twists in pain.
She turns, too abruptly, and curls against Simon as if to bury her face in his neck. But she rests her cheek against her brother's shoulder instead, and keeps her eyes on her father's face, even as the silent tears start to spill over.
